Nirvanix offers a broad range of integrated functionality that allows you to customize the Nirvanix Cloud Storage Network to your requirements.
The Nirvanix Web Services API has built-in security capabilities including SSL, strong password authentication, and de-identified physical file information that prevents linking files to specific accounts without a 3-step key. All access is token-based with server-side session management, preventing manipulation, impersonation, or compromise of data or login credentials. For highly secure transfers, data can be encrypted and transmitted via SSL.
Nirvanix's multi-tenant implementation allows you to create multiple applications under a single Nirvanix account. Each application has a unique key that can have unique policies associated with it. Policies can specify the number of copies to replicate for increased protection or specify the locations to store the files for optimal performance. Setting policies is easily accomplished by talking to a Nirvanix Solutions Sales Executive.
You can customize the metadata associated with a particular file when you store it on the Cloud Storage Network. This allows you to maintain your categorization methodologies and enables customizable search parameters.
In addition to allowing multiple applications under a single Nirvanix account, you have the option to create multiple child accounts under a single application. Each child account can have unique storage and bandwidth limits associated with it. Child accounts can also be password protected and used to control access to data for different users and workgroups or to track storage by division for chargeback. You view and manage child accounts directly via the API or through the Nirvanix Management Portal.
The API offers integrated calls that enable server-side transcoding of audio and video, image rotation, and thumbnail generation. These services provide a method to perform the most common media manipulation tasks without needing to transfer data from the Nirvanix Cloud Storage Network.
