San Diego, July 23, 2012 – Complementing its executive management team with additional media & entertainment technology expertise, Nirvanix today announced the appointment of Dru Borden as Chief Strategy Officer, effective immediately. Borden joins Nirvanix after successful careers at CBS (NYSE: CBS.A and CBS) and NBCUniversal (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK) where he led core engineering teams that created and implemented software architectures for enterprise applications and media platforms. At Nirvanix, Borden will focus on advancing the company's technologies for large unstructured content files prevalent in the healthcare, financial services and media & entertainment industries as well as focusing on next generation horizontal business solutions for backup, archival and large-scale content collaboration. Borden will report to Scott Genereux, President and CEO of Nirvanix.
"As the media and entertainment sector transitions to an all-digital workflow, its challenges are further amplified due to the sheer size of HD content files and the need for large-scale content collaboration across multiple geo locations," said Dru Borden, Chief Strategy Officer, Nirvanix. "Cloud storage is rapidly gaining traction as a cost-effective component and business enabler in modern post-production workflows and its adoption is spreading to all industries dealing with the rise of unstructured data. I have experienced the pains of dealing with storage systems that reach their end of life (EOL) and the constant migration of data from one hardware platform to another – and it's clear that the shift to cloud is inevitable across all vertical markets."
"Dru brings significant expertise to Nirvanix in the areas of application architectures and content management and will collaborate with our Engineering organization and the Office of the CTO to spearhead our strategic business direction going forward," said Scott Genereux, President and CEO, Nirvanix. "By continuing to expand our management team with new executives with highly specialized industry expertise and strong customer relationships, we are positioned to deliver new cloud storage innovations to address an even broader range of customer requirements – while strengthening our ability to continue capturing material market share from principal competitors."
Borden has over 15 years of experience in application development and software architecture, highlighted by executive leadership positions at media & entertainment giants. Prior to CBS, Borden was Vice President and Chief Software Architect, Media Technologies, at NBCUniversal, leading the Platform Development Team consisting of 40+ architects and developers worldwide.
