Company’s Storage Delivery Network among the Best Storage Software Solutions
SAN DIEGO – March 10, 2008 – Nirvanix, the premier “Cloud Storage” platform provider, has been selected as one of the “Top 10 Startups to Watch” by storage networking website Byte and Switch in a February 21 article that highlights new firms around the world they think are “the most watchable.”
The Byte and Switch editors noted the companies selected “are notable newbies with a range of innovative bids for storage managers’ attention – and purchase orders.” The candidates were judged on key attributes which included: a really interesting gamble or a creative take on an important storage-related problem; current impact demonstrated in getting new funding; solid initial backing; and partnerships, customers or contracts that prove they’re more than vaporware.
The article noted, “Nirvanix emerged from stealth mode in September 2007 and has worked fast to claim its slice of the burgeoning market for online storage services.” This comes on the heels of Nirvanix winning the “Storage Product of the Year” for 2007.
Byte and Switch mentioned the Nirvanix “battle cry” of “The Box is Dead,” which was demonstrated at a recent DEMO event wherein a Nirvanix customer, FreeDrive, took a sledgehammer to a server. The need for a data center with its costs and complexities is no longer a necessity for Nirvanix customers, and what is referred to as a “battle cry” by Byte and Switch is now a reality for hundreds of customers worldwide.
Separately, Nirvanix has been named a finalist for the 23rd annual CODiE Awards by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) in the Best Storage Software Solution category. Winners will be announced May 20 at the CODiE Gala at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.
At the end of January, Nirvanix announced the opening of additional storage nodes in Europe and Asia, increasing Nirvanix’s network footprint and enabling the intelligent storage and movement of files, guaranteeing the best performance and end user experience on a global scale.
According to Jonathan Buckley, Chief Marketing Officer at Nirvanix, “We could not be more pleased that the industry is watching. We are solving a long-time problem with a fresh approach, innovative technologies and old-fashioned passionate customer service. The tremendous traction we are seeing attests further to the fact that perhaps the time of the rack and stack box model at every company is dead. We believe Byte and Switch will rate itself well when they review their choice of Nirvanix in the near and long-term.”
