Whether an Enterprise needs to archive petabytes of data from various geographic locations or an application developer needs to integrate online storage into a backup client for hundred’s of thousands of consumer PCs, the SDN is ready.
Online Archiving
The Nirvanix Storage Delivery Network is grid of globally distributed storage nodes that intelligently store and deliver data to the closest node based upon the geographic location of the user. Data is stored on magnetic discs that are available and searchable at anytime. The system is powered by Nirvanix’s proprietary Internet Media File System™ (IMFS) that manages the storing of data in a clustered file system under one global namespace. Unlike when you run your own storage centers, all you need to do is point and click to replicate data to another global location.
A variety of ingestion tools are offered including an FTP proxy and virtual CIFS/NFS drive mounts. For custom integration Nirvanix provides a standards based API (the Nirvanix Web Service API) and a library of sample code and reference applications. Large data sets are also supported via Nirvanix's cross connect service which allows the direct connection of a high speed line into one of Nirvanix’s various storage nodes.
Backup Applications
The Nirvanix API has built in functionality to help backup application developers expedite their time to market. With its HTTPS upload capability, Nirvanix ensures the most reliable data upload available. The SDN also supports files sizes up to 256 GB, and partial file upload via HTTP range uploading. Nirvanix’s API also offers integrated MD5 hash functionality allowing for data de-duplication. In all cases, data is funneled directly to the Nirvanix storage servers, keeping your customer’s backup files as secure as possible.
Security and Availability
Data security is ensured through fully redundant infrastructure and state of the art data protection techniques. A standard 99.9% SLA is offered with the ability to increase data reliability and availability via policy based data replication allowing up to 3 copies of data to 3 different geographic regions.
